THE FOLLOWING REPRESENTATIVE REACTION SHOWING A CROTYL ESTER (I.E., A CARBOXYLIC ACID ESTER OF 2-BUTTEN-1-OL) AS THE REACTANT PRODUCING A CORRESPONDING PANTENOIC ACID ANHYDRIDE IS ILLUSTRATIVE OF THE OVERALL CARBONYLATION.
