abstract A HIGHLY STABLE LUBRICANT COMPOSITION COMPRISING A COMPOUND REPRESENTED BY THE FORMULA (I) FORMULA 1 WHEREIN N IS AN INTEGER OF 0 TO 5, R1A IS CF2 CF2H OR H, AND R2 TO R7 ARE EACH AN ALIPHATIC GROUP HAVING 1 TO 100 CARBON ATOMS OR AN ALIPHATIC GROUP HAVING 1 TO 100 CARBON ATOMS AND PARTIALLY SUBSTITUTED BY A FLUORINE ATOM, PROVIDED THAT WHEN R1A IS A HYDROGEN ATOM, ANY OF THE GROUPS REPRESENTED BY R2, R5 AND R6 HAS A FLUORINE ATOM. THE LUBRICANT COMPOSITION OF THE INVENTION IS HIGHLY COMPATIBLE WITH FLUORINATED ALKANE REFRIGERANTS AND IS SUITABLE FOR USE IN A REFRIGERATION SYSTEM USING AS A REFRIGERANT A FLUORINATED ALKANE, PREFERABLY HYDROFLUOROALKANE. THE COMPOSITION DISPLAYS A HIGH LUBRICITY AND A HIGH THERMAL STABILITY WHEN USED SINGLY AS A LUBRICANT OR USED IN A REFRIGERATION SYSTEM USING AS A REFRIGERANT A FLUORINATED ALKANE. FURTHER THE COMPOSITION IS EFFECTIVE IN THE PREVENTION OF OXIDATION, DEACIDIFICATION AND DEHYDRATION.
