The present invention relates to a process for producing a multi-stage composition of ethylene polymers, of which the first stage is preferably an aqueous paste polymerization stage, in the presence of a catalyst system, comprising: a) a solid catalyst precursor, which comprises a transition metal selected from titanium and vanadium; magnesium, a halide, optionally an electron donor; and a solid particulate material, which comprises an inorganic oxide, and wherein the average particle diameter, D50, of the solid catalyst precursor, based on the total volume of the solid catalyst precursor, is 1 to 13 microns; and b) an organo-aluminum compound. |
