METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE NUCLEUS DESIGN OF A NUCLEAR REACTOR WITH REDUCED CONTROL PALETTE DENSITY. |
abstract |
In the method, a reference core design is generated based on a defined group of limits. The boundary group may include an objective excessive heat reactivity restriction that will be met through a given core energy cycle and a definition of the desired control paddle given that it is set for the cycle. A reference core design is generated based on the defined limits. A single subgroup of fresh fuel bundles is subjected to an iterative improvement procedure that includes the replacement, at each fuel location, of at least one of the currently fresh fuel bundles with at least one of the selected fresh fuel bundles, and simulation of reactor operation in the reference core design to obtain a plurality of productions that will be classified based on the defined group of limits. The highest rated production may represent an accepted core design with the definition of a fixed control vane that satisfies the target excessive heat reactivity restriction. |
