titleOfInvention METHOD FOR DECONTAMINATION OF POLYETHYLENE TEREFTALATE.
abstract A process for removing contaminants from PET components by mixing ethanediol with the PET supply material at a temperature near the boiling point of ethanediol and for a sufficient time to convert the polyethylene terephthalate components into polyethylene terephthalate polymers is described. They are soluble in ethanediol and form bis (hydroxyethyl) terephthalate and produce a mixture of products from them containing insoluble materials. Polymers of polyethylene terephthalate, soluble bis (hydroxyethyl) terephthalate and ethanediol are recovered from the product mixture.
