titleOfInvention | MATERIALS AND METHODS TO PREVENT AND TREAT EPITELIAL DISORDERS MEDIATED BY MICROBIO. |
abstract | The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions in the form of relatively high molecular weight biocompatible polymers such as polyethylene glycol, optionally supplemented with a protective polymer such as dextran and / or essential pathogenic nutrients such as L-glutamine. Methods are also provided to prevent or treat bowel-derived sepsis attributable to intestinal pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by administering high molecular weight polyethylene glycol as well as methods to monitor the administration of high molecular weight polyethylene glycol, such as in methods to prevent, improve or treat epithelial disorders induced by microbe, as exemplified by sepsis derived from intestine. Frequently, bowel-derived sepsis presents as a complication in mammals who recover from surgical intervention or who suffer from a disease or disorder, providing indications of appropriate animals for preventive treatment. Finally, the invention provides a composition comprising formula for child and polyethylene glycol and methods for using that composition. |
