titleOfInvention CATHODIC RAY TUBE WITH INTERNAL FILTER OF NEUTRAL DENSITY.
abstract A novel cathode ray tube (CRT) 10 and a method for manufacturing the CRT are described. The CRT comprises an internal filter (90) of neutral density that is located between the phosphor deposits and the inner surface of the clamping plate board (12). The filter improves the contrast of the CRT without compromising the brightness ratio from the center to the edge of the CRT. The filter comprises very fine particles, where the particles are black, gray or a mixture of gray black. The filter reduces the absorption of the clamping plate from 25 to 75%. The invention is useful in particular for essentially flat CRTs. The method for producing the novel CRT comprises the steps of preparing a suspension of particles containing well dispersed light absorbing carbon, which have a size of 0.05 to 2 microns in an accusative medium and are applied to the suspension on the inner surface of the clamping plate board before applying at least one phosphorus deposit. The suspension may also include organic and inorganic binders and dispersing and humidifying agents.
