abstract | The present invention is directed to small molecule compounds, selective LXR modulators corresponding to Formula (I) wherein: wherein R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, acyl or alkaryl; R3 is optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; each R4 is independently hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, hydroxy, alkoxy, cyano, nitro, amino, alkenyl, alkynyl, amido, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, haloalkylcarbonyl, alkylthiocarbonyl, arylthiocarbonyl, alkyl optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from lower alkyl, halogen, hydroxy, haloalkyl, cyano, nitro, carboxy, amino, alkoxy and aryl, or aryl optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from hydrogen, halogen, haloalkyl, hydroxy, lower alkyl, alkoxy, dioxy methylene, ethylenedioxy, cyano, nitro, alkylthio, alkylfunyl, sulfonic acid, sulfonamide, carboxyl, amino, aryl and heteroaryl derivatives; and a is 0-4, and is also directed to a process for treating a condition in a mammal that is modulated by LXR using a therapeutically effective dose of a compound of Formula I. |
