abstract A system for extracting a sample of body fluid (for example, a sample of interstitial fluid) (ISF (and monitoring an analyte therein) includes a disposable cartridge and a local controller module; the disposable cartridge includes a sampling module adapted for extracting a sample of body fluid and an analysis module adapted to measure an analyte (e.g. glucose), in the body fluid sample; the local controller module is in electronic communication with the disposable cartridge and is adapted to receive and storing measurement measurement data of the analysis module; the ISF extraction device includes a penetration member configured to penetrate and reside at a target site of a layer of the user's skin and subsequently extract an ISF sample from the same; the device also includes a pressure ring (s) adapted to apply pressure to the user's skin layer in the vicinity of the target site; The device is configured so that the pressure ring (s) is capable of applying pressure in an oscillation manner whereby an ISF glucose delay interval of the ISF sample that is removed by the penetration member is mitigated; A method of extracting ISF includes providing an ISF fluid extraction device with a penetration member and a pressure ring (s); next, a layer of the user's skin is contacted by means of the pressure ring (s) and penetrated by the penetration member; An ISF sample is then removed from the user's skin layer while the pressure is applied in a manner of oscillation by means of a pressure ring (s); The oscillation pressure mitigates an ISF glucose delay interval of the extracted ISF sample.
