A method for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD) is described. The method includes direct detection of the presence of a biochemical marker, specifically, human glutamine synthetase, in body fluids, preferably blood or a blood product. The detection is by incorporation into an immunoassay of an antibody specific for human glutamine synthetase. In addition, a method for distinguishing between dementia EA and non-EA is described. |
