abstract The present invention describes an apparatus for the formation of micronic and submicron particles of a substance using the ASG process, which comprises a particle formation vessel (22) and means for introducing a solution of the substance and a supercritical fluid into the particle formation vessel (22), wherein the means comprise a nozzle (27) having a central hole (39) that serves to transport a solution flow, and a plurality of separate external holes (41) that serve to transporting a pure supercritical fluid flow or a supercritical fluid flow mixed with a modifier, so that the solvent is removed from the solution by the supercritical fluid and precipitation of the micronic and submicron particles occurs. A process, performed with such an apparatus, is also described.
