A method for the production of a longitudinal reinforcing element based on multiple filament carbon fiber, designed to be incorporated into a rubber based element. The method comprises the following steps, by means of which the non-twisted carbon fibers are immersed in an impregnating bath containing a solution of resorcinol-formaldehyde resin and rubber latex, the impregnated fibers are subsequently dried and the dried fibers are subsequently crooked The inventive method is characterized in that it also comprises a step, during the impregnation step, which consists in exposing the carbon fibers by expanding the constituent filaments thereof in such a way that each fiber has an increased surface area on which it can be the impregnation effected. |
