| abstract |
A system and method for aerobic waste treatment, such as animal or human waste, is provided. The method includes the continuous introduction of a particular species / strain of Chlorella algae at the waste site. The high amounts of oxygen produced by the microalgae satisfy the demand for biochemical oxygen in the treatment process and also allow the oxidation of undesirable contaminants. The supply of the microalgae at a desired speed is achieved by incorporating a series of electrical and mechanical devices housed within a greenhouse-like structure, which optimizes the growth conditions for the microalgae and also allows the system to be automated. |
