abstract |
Compositions and methods that stimulate the synthesis of body protein and that can improve the maintenance and recovery of muscle mass are provided. The composition comprises (i) a protein source that provides at least about 8% of the total calories of the composition and that includes at least about 50% by weight whey protein; (ii) a lipid source that has a ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 from about 5: 1 to about 10: 1 and that provides at least about 18% of the total calories of the composition; (iii) a source of carbohydrates; and (iv) a balanced macronutrient profile comprising at least vitamin E and vitamin C. |
