titleOfInvention A DURABLY HYDROPHYLIC NON-LIXIVING COATING FOR HYDROPHOBIC SUBSTANCES.
abstract The present invention is directed to a non-leaching and durably hydrophilic coating. A mixture is formed from salt and carbohydrate by at least partially dissolving a water-insoluble carbohydrate in an aqueous salt solution to form a salt and carbohydrate complex. The salt and carbohydrate mixture is applied to a substrate and the substrate is rinsed with a solvent to form a coating. The present invention is also directed to a substrate coated with a coating of the present invention to the absorbent structures comprising the coated substrate.
