abstract | A process for preparing a compound having the formula (I) is provided; (See formula I) comprising: (a) the reaction of a compound having formula (II) (See formula II) with an isocyanate having formula R1NCO to produce a compound having formula (III); (See formula III) (b) optionally hydrolyzing the compound of formula (III) to form an amide having the formula (IV); (See formula IV) (c) the reaction of a compound of formula (III) or the amide of formula (IV) with a compound having formula (V) (See formula V) in the presence of a strong base to produce a compound having the formula (VI); (See formula VI) and (d) the location of the compound of formula (VI) to obtain the compound of formula (I) wherein R is H or CI; M is selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, MgX, ZnRA, and AI (RA) 2; RA is alkyl; X is halo; R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heteroaryl, heteroaralkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, and heterocycloalkylalkyl; and L is a leaving group; A process is also provided for preparing a compound having the formula (VIII) comprising the reaction of a compound having the formula (II) with CO2 and a protonation agent to obtain the fomiula compound (VIII), wherein M it is selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, MgX, ZnRA, and AI (RA) 2, where RA is alkyl and X is halo. |
