titleOfInvention | USE OF A TRANSMISSION AGENT TO ELIMINATE WASHING STEPS FOR OPTICAL DIFFACTION BASED BIOSENSORS. |
abstract | The present invention provides a cheap and sensitive system and method for detecting analytes present in a medium. The system comprises a diffraction improvement element, such as functionalized microspheres, which are modified so that they are capable of agglutinating with an objective analyte. Additionally, the system comprises a polymer film, which may include a metal coating, on which a specific predetermined pattern of specific analyte receptors is printed. Finally, the system includes a transmission agent which allows the system to be a single step system which avoids the need for any additional rinsing steps. With the attachment of the target analyte to selected areas of the polymer film, either directly with the diffraction improvement element, the diffraction of the transmitted and / or reflected light occurs through the physical dimensions and the precise and defined placement of the analyte. A diffraction image, such as a hologram, is produced which can be easily seen with the eye or optionally with a sensor device. |
