A method is provided to improve or maintain the cutaneous system and the hair of a pet, which includes administering to the pet a nutritional agent which promotes the growth of bifid and lactic bacteria in its gastrointestinal tract. The nutritional agent can be a prebiotic adjuvant or a probiotic microorganism, or both. The nutritional agent can be administered together with a long chain fatty acid. |
