| abstract | An absorbent article having a restrainable mechanism is described. The absorbent article has a front part, a back part and a crotch part. The crotch part connects the front to the back. The front part has a first end, a second end, a first side edge and a second side edge. The first and second side sections are releasably attached to the front and each of the first and second side sections has an outer edge. The back has the first and second side edges and the first and second ends. The back is divided into a first section and a second section. The first section has a length L2 measured perpendicularly from the first end of the back to a line drawn parallel to it. The second section has a length L3 measured perpendicularly from the second end of the back to a line drawn parallel to the first end whereby a ratio L2 / L3 is established which varies from between about 0.1 to about 2. The absorbent article also includes an absorbent secured to at least one of the parts, front, back or crotch. Each of the outer edges of the first and second side sections are secured to one of the first and second side edges of the back to form a brief type article having a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. |
