A method for producing a liquid, porous, open-cell polymeric foam material that has properties that make it suitable for use as an absorbent structure in absorbent articles such as honeycombs, pantiprotectors, sanitary napkins, incontinence protections, bandages, protections for bed, etc. which comprises dissolving a polymer in a solvent, adding a surfactant and causing foaming, after which the polymer is entwined in the foamed mixture by means of an interlacing agent. The temperature of the foam thus formed is reduced to a temperature below the freezing point of the solvent and the entanglement reaction is continued during the freezing stage, and then the main part of the solvent is removed from the formed foam material. |
