A polymeric, open-cell, liquid-absorbent foam material, which has properties that make it suitable for use as an absorbent structure within absorbent articles, such as honeycombs, pants panels, sanitary napkins, incontinence protectors, wound dressings, bed protections, etc., in which the foam material has an absorption regime, when wet, of at least 0.4 ml / s, for a round sample, which has a diameter of 50 mm, a capacity of distribution of liquid, at an inclination of 30 °, of at least 15 g / g, and a liquid storage capacity of at least 9%, measured through the CRC method (retention capacity in centrifugation), in where the test liquid, in all cases, is a synthetic urine.
