titleOfInvention | NON-FIBRABLE FLUOROPOLIMERO ATOMIZABLE POWDER. |
abstract | The invention provides an atomizable powder comprising friable granules of agglomerated primary particles of a non-fibrillable fluoropolymer and optionally, at least one other component; The powder has an apparent density of at least 20g / l00cc and an average particle size of 5 to 100 micrometers. The atomizable powder is preferably free of water immiscible liquid and, more preferably, free of halocarbon liquid. Among the other components, inorganic fillers, pigments and high temperature resistant polymer binders are included. In another embodiment, the invention provides an atomizable powder comprising friable granules of agglomerated primary particles of a first non-fibrillable fluoropolymer and, at least, another non-fibrillable component. The invention also provides a process for preparing the atomizable powder by spraying a liquid dispersion. In a preferred embodiment, the process includes densifying the pellets of agglomerated primary particles that result from spray dehydration. Densification can be carried out by mechanical compaction or by contacting the granules with hot gas to form a fluidized bed. The optional communication and heat treatment steps can be used to achieve the desired apparent density and the desired particle size for specific applications. |
