titleOfInvention | COMPOSITION OF POLYMER IN ACULOSE ACRYLIC EMULSION. |
abstract | An aqueous acrylic emulsion polymer is supplied, which includes, as copolymerized units, from 70 to 99.5% by weight, based on the weight of the dry polymer, of a non-ionic, methylenically unsaturated (meth) acrylic monomer, and 0.3 to 10% by weight, based on the weight of the dry polymer, of a monoethylene ethically unsaturated acid monomer, in which at least 40% by weight, based on the weight of the dry polymer, of the emulsion polymer, is formed by the redox polymerization, in the presence of 0.001 to 0.05 moles of a chain transfer agent per kilogram of the dry polymer weight. An aqueous coating composition is also supplied, which includes the polymer in acrylic emulsion and a method for improving the resistance to scrubbing of a dry coating, which includes applying the aqueous coating composition to a substrate; and drying, or allowing to dry, said aqueous coating composition. |
