abstract Methods for detecting apoptotic activity derived from the membrane are provided. In one embodiment, the present invention provides methods for identifying membrane derived dandruff activity. In other embodiments, drug discovery methods are provided to select compounds that inhibit or increase membrane derived dandruff activity. In several embodiments, heavy membrane fractions are used for the selection methodologies described herein.
