titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR MIXING POLY (VINYL ALCOHOL) AND POLI (ETHYLENE OXIDE). |
abstract | The present invention describes water soluble compositions comprising a mixture of poly (ethylene oxide) and polyvinyl alcohol having improved ductility over water soluble compositions comprising only polyvinyl alcohol. In a desirable embodiment of the present invention, the poly (ethylene oxide) component of the mixture is grafted. The grafted poly (ethylene oxide) resins have improved processability and improved mixing compatibility with the polyvinyl alcohol. Films comprising a molten mixture of polyvinyl alcohol and grafted poly (ethylene oxide) have improved melt processability as well as other improved properties. Films comprising compositions of the present invention have improved ductility over films comprising only polyvinyl alcohol while retaining much of the high water resistance and solubility exhibited by such polyvinyl alcohol films. |
