titleOfInvention SYNTHESIS OF 5,5'-DIFORMIL 2,2'-DIFURAN AND ITS DERIVATIVES.
abstract The 5,5-diformyl-2,2-difuran is prepared, with excellent yields, by photochemically irradiating the furfural or a mixture of the furfural and a 5-bromo-2-furfural. In the latter case, an acid scrubber is present. The solvent is acetonitrile. This process can be carried out continuously, with 5-bromo-2-furfural acting as a solvent, the furfural being added and the product is collected continuously.
