abstract This invention relates to a process for selective or monochlorination or dichlorization of certain substituted alkenes, with the use of trichloroisocyanuric acid. Chlorinated alkenes can be easily hydrolyzed to supply alpha-monochloroketones or alpha, alpha-dichloroketones with a high degree of selectivity. Alpha-monochloroketones or alpha, alpha. Resulting dichloroketones, have utility as fungicides or function as useful intermediates for fungicides.
