titleOfInvention PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVES, BASED ON ACRYLIC, PIGMENTED, CURED WITH ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION, AND METHOD FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF THEM.
abstract In the present invention they provide pressure sensitive adhesives that cure to provide high cohesive strength, at room temperature and at elevated temperatures, and to a method of making those adhesives. The adhesives comprise an acrylic copolymer prepared or mixed with a pigment and a photoinitiator that extracts or captures hydrogen. An adhesive providing agent and / or a multifunctional acrylate or methacrylate can also be added. The acrylic copolymer is prepared from a substantially acid-free monomeric mixture, of at least one alkyl acrylate, and of a tertiary amine-containing monomer, such as DMAPMA. Also preferably included are other monomers including vinyl, polar monomers and diesters of atylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids. Despite the presence of titanium dioxide or other pigments, the prepared or mixed copolymers are cured by ultraviolet radiation to provide great cohesive strength, through the combination of tertiary amine functional groups and photoinitiators that extract or capture hydrogen, which form a synergistic effect when irradiated, leading to the formation of free radiation and crosslinking of the polymer. Non-pigmented adhesives are also provided.
