abstract A procedure for the recovery of cephalexin from a mixture containing cephalexin and 7-amino deacetoxycephalosporanic acid (7-ADCA), characterized in that a mixture containing cephalexin and 7-ADCA, with a pH greater than 7, which in addition to any cephalexin Solid that is present is homogeneous at a pH between 7 and 8.5, it undergoes a modification of 7.8, and the solid substance present is recovered; the procedure is particularly suitable to be applied to the reaction mixture obtained after the enzymatic acylation reaction of 7-ADCA with a phenylglycine derivative as acylation agent; in this way, pure cephalexin can be recovered in a simple way.
