titleOfInvention USE OF POLYACRYLIC ACID AND OTHER POLYMERS AS ADDITIVES IN BINDERS, FORMALDEHYDE BASED, FOR GLASS FIBERS.
abstract A process for preparing binder-coated glass fiber products, this process employs as the binder, aqueous polymer systems, comprising a nitrogenous formaldehyde resin, such as an alkaline phenol / formaldehyde resole diluted with urea, together with an acidic polyacrylate, which together cure to form a thermoset polymer, while synergistically reducing ammonia emissions, which normally occur during the cure of the nitrogen formaldehyde resin. The polymer system can be used in applications other than glass fibers, where low emissions are desirable.
