titleOfInvention DERIVATIVES OF ALKYL-5-METHYLSULPHONYL-BENZOYLGUANIDINE AND PROCEDURE FOR ITS PREPARATION.
abstract The benzoylguanidines of formula I: wherein R1 and R2 have the meanings indicated in claim 1, and their physiologically acceptable salts possess antiarrhythmic properties and an inhibitory effect on the Na + / H + exchange mechanism of cells. The compounds of the invention have a good cardioprotective effect and are therefore particularly suitable for the treatment and prophylaxis of heart attacks and for the treatment of angina pectoris. Furthermore, these compounds act against all kinds of pathological hypoxic and ischemic lesions, so they can be used to treat primary or secondary conditions thus caused. They are also suitable for the therapy of diseases caused by cell proliferation, such as arteriosclerosis, late diabetic complications, tumors, fibroids and also hypertrophies and hyperplasias of the organs. The invention also relates to a process for preparing the compounds of formula I and to pharmaceutical preparations containing at least one of said compounds and / or one of their physiologically acceptable salts.
