titleOfInvention IMPROVED LATEX COMPOSITION USING SPECIFICALLY DEFINED ALCOHOL ETHOXYLATE SURFACE AGENT AND HYDROPHOBIC FOAMING AGENT.
abstract An improved latex composition is provided which has been found to exhibit superior ability to form a substantially uniform polymeric film when applied to a substrate. The composition is capable of being handled and applied to a substrate in the absence of excessive foaming. The aqueous composition includes as essential components, specific concentrations of a predominantly hydrophobic, normally liquid, predominantly hydrophobic, normally liquid, non-ionic ethylene oxide / propylene oxide block copolymer surfactant (eg, a hydrocarbon-based mineral oil). ). It is possible for the composition to be applied to a hydrophobic substrate (e.g., a polyester film substrate). The compositions of the present invention, after application to a substrate and volatilization of the water component, form a substantially uniform polymeric film that can serve as a coating or adhesive.
