titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE OBTAINING OF IMIDAZOLINE MIXTURES FROM VEGETABLE OILS.
abstract The present invention refers to a method for obtaining imidazoline mixtures capable of providing considerable energy savings in manufacturing due to a notable reduction in process temperature, lower requirements for chemical raw materials of input and allows the direct use of vegetable oils, instead of fatty acids or their esters, giving rise to the production of imidazolines that contain in position 1 of the group ring (2-hydroxyethyl) and in position 2 a hydrocarbon chain, originating from the fatty acids present in the coconut, palm, jatropha or castor oil oils. Also, their application as corrosion inhibitors and quaternized imidazolines with an application as cationic surfactants, fabric softeners, hair conditioners or antistatic agents are mentioned. It is an optimized method that uses substoichiometric proportions of aminoethylethanolamine and reaction temperatures lower than those known and without dehydrating agents or catalysts, or azeotropic distillation that involves the use of highly flammable solvents, making the environment safer due to the implications related to its management.
