abstract Polyester polyols containing adducts formed from the Diels-Alder and Eno reactions are described. The processes for preparing polyester polyols and the uses of polyester polyols such as coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, and polyurethane foams are also described. In some embodiments, polyester polyols contain biorenewable adducts based on maleic anhydride and farnesene and have particular application in the manufacture of rigid and flexible polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams.
