A method for producing sulphate or phosphate based fertilizer from hydrogen sulphide is disclosed; the method involves feeding a stream containing a substantial volume of hydrogen sulfide and air to an oven, where they are burned to produce a stream of gas rich in sulfur dioxide; the gas stream rich in sulfur dioxide is then fed to a reactor to produce a sulfuric acid stream and a waste stream comprising carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, trace impurities and trace amounts of unreacted sulfide dioxide; Finally, the sulfuric acid stream is converted into a sulfate or phosphate based fertilizer. |
