titleOfInvention | PROCESS TO PREPARE A 2-SULFINYL OR 2-SULFONYL-PIRIDINE N-OXIDE COMPOUND |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for preparing a 2-sulfinyl or 2-sulfonyl-pyridine n-oxide compound of the formula (see gazette) wherein n is 1 or 2; R1 is a hydrogen or methyl; R2 has one of the following values when R1 is hydrogen: 2,2-dichlorocyclopropyl; 2,2-dichloro-1-methylcyclopropyl, cyano, naphthyl, methylnaphtin, monosubstituted phenyl in which the substituent is in the ortho position and is related to the alkyl, with 1 to 2 carbon atoms, halogen, nitro or polysubstituted phenyl with 2 to 5 substituents which may be the same or different and are selected from C 1 -C 2 -alkyl, halogen, nitro, methoxy, ethoxy, and methylenedioxy; and R2 has one of the following values: when R1 is methyl: phenyl, naphthyl, phenyl, substituted with 1 to 3 substituents which may be the same or different and are selected from alkyl with 1 to 2 carbon atoms, halogen and nitro, characterized in that the 2-thioperidine N-oxide is reacted with an oxidizing agent in the presence of a solvent that is water at a temperature from 0 ° C to reflux, and a catalyst selected from the group of salts of tungstaneo vanadium, zirconium and molybdenum. |
