abstract Hydrophobic intraocular lenses (IOL) with excellent non-glossy characteristics, high Abbe number, excellent mechanical properties are described, comprising at least one copolymer comprising: (a) a first monomeric subunit comprising a polymerized (meth) acrylate group and at less one side alkoxyalkoxyalkyl group, (b) a second monomeric subunit different from the first monomeric subunit comprising a polymerized (meth) acrylate group, at least n side group comprising: (i) an aryloxy moiety with at least one halogen, and (ii) an aliphatic carbon portion linking the aryloxy portion to the polymerized (meth) acrylate group, wherein the aliphatic carbon portion comprises at least one hydroxyl substituent.
