A method of treating the skin or hair in a dog that contains an effective amount of an ectoparasiticide previously applied to the skin or hair, which comprises applying an amount of a cleaning composition directly to the skin or hair, where the treatment does not give as a result the reduction of the efficacy of ectoparasiticide against adult fleas (C. felis) or adult ticks (R. sanguineus) below 90% efficacy for at least one month after the application of ectoparasiticide; wherein the cleaning composition comprises approximately 1-3% glycerin; approximately 2-4% of silicone copolyol esters, water and is essentially free of surfactant. |
