abstract With the present invention it has been discovered that certain compounds of type 4- (trifluoromethyl) pyridine and compositions with active compound comprising such compounds are suitable for controlling pests of annoying insects, carriers of diseases or hematophagous (which are fed from blood) incl. Diptera insect pests, 5 Triatominae and Cimicidae due to weakening or inhibition of blood feeding. In one embodiment, diptera pests are selected from flies and mosquitoes, including insecticide resistant flies and mosquitoes, as well as fly and mosquito vectors of pathogenic diseases. Cimicidae insect target pests are selected from bed bugs. Triatominae target pests are selected from vinchucas.
