abstract A hair conditioning composition comprising from about 0.1% to about 20% of a lipid that is one or more unsaturated fatty materials selected from a group consisting of an unsaturated fatty acid; an unsaturated fatty alcohol; an unsaturated amine; an unsaturated amide; and an unsaturated phospholipid; wherein the molecule of said unsaturated fatty material comprises a linear or branched carbon chain with 8 to 24 carbon atoms and a carbon-carbon double bond at a position of the carbon chain between the C3 position and omega position for the fatty acid unsaturated or unsaturated amide and between the C2 position and the omega position for unsaturated fatty alcohol, unsaturated amine or unsaturated phospholipid and where the logP of said unsaturated fatty material is less than 7; and from 0.1% to 20% of one or more lipid enhancing agents selected from the group comprising a polyol fatty acid monoester, wherein the fatty acid component molecule of said monoester contains a linear or branched carbon chain with 10 to 22 carbon atoms and wherein the polyol fatty acid monoester has a logP less than 7; a saturated fatty alcohol, wherein the fatty alcohol molecule contains a linear or branched carbon chain with 8 to 22 carbon atoms; an ester of a saturated fatty alcohol wherein the molecule of said ester contains 10 to 44 carbon atoms in total; an alcohol in which the molecule of these alcohols contains an aromatic ring.
