abstract This description refers to a method to control nutrient depletion and reduce nitrogen and phosphorus runoff in agricultural applications. It is contemplated that the methods described in this document maintain more nitrogen and phosphorus available in the root zone of the plant and minimize premature leaching and loss of plant nutrients to surface waters and subsurface groundwater. The substance that restricts nutrient depletion includes a liquid formulation comprising one or more of the following components: (1) a plant extract of green algae, seaweed or its derivatives, (2) a liquid composition for the modification of the growth of plants, (3) a humic extract from a genuine humic source, for example, leonardite.
