abstract Balloons and related components and manufacturing methods. Several modalities provide balloons that define elastomeric balloon bodies and necks. Balloon bodies define body thicknesses and full or unfilled internal volumes. The tension in the balloon bodies gives rise to internal pressures when the balloons are filled. The necks mate with the bodies and define neck thicknesses that differ from the thicknesses of the bodies. Several modalities provide a check valve for use with balloons and / or with various liquids. These check valves may comprise a ball further comprising a generally spherical substrate of fine particles of a biodegradable material and a coating on the substrate. The coating can be produced from another biodegradable material. Combined, the coating and the generally spherical substrate form the check valve ball and have a density that differs from the density of the water.
