abstract The present description provides nutritional compositions comprising docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (ARA). The nutritional compositions may comprise an emulsion of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (ARA), and are suitable for enteral administration as a nutritional supplement or for oral administration such as human milk or fortifying infant formula. In addition, the present description provides methods for the administration of nutrients to subjects that require small volume nutritional support, such as premature infants. Nutritional compositions are useful, for example, in correcting nutritional deficiencies by increasing the intake of a subject of nutrients, such as omega-3 or omega-6 long chain polyunsaturated acids.
