The fibrinogen / bone sialoprotein binding protein, rich in Ser-Asp, from S. aureus contains three CnaB domains, and the third of these provides significant protection against S. aureus infection. In this way, a useful S. aureus vaccine can include a CnaB domain of SdrE. In addition, it has been shown that the SdrE protein is relatively resistant to trypsin digestion, which could be associated with the observation that SdrE contains an isopeptide bond within the third CnaB domain. |
