| abstract | The present invention provides new formulations of clopidogrel in combination with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and optionally with NSAIDs, for use as improved antiplatelet therapies in stroke and cardiovascular indications. The invention provides the delivery of clopidogrel in pulses or waves, such that the total dose is gradual / progressive over time and, is advantageously combined with omeprazole in a manner that minimizes the conflicting actions that these two drugs may have. each. In addition, the invention also provides the supply of clopidogrel and a PPI, and optionally of aspirin, in a sequential (organized) manner that would allow the supply and metabolism of clopidogrel first, followed by the PPI, and after the above optionally Aspirin. A particular mode of the invention involves the combination of clopidogrel with coformulated immediate release omeprazole plus enteric coated aspirin. |
