abstract In the present patent application, different embodiments of the methods and catalysts for the deoxygenation of a pyrolysis oil derived from biomass are provided. The method comprises the step of contacting the pyrolysis oil derived from biomass with a first deoxygenation catalyst in the presence of hydrogen under predetermined first hydroprocessing conditions, to form a first effluent of pyrolysis oil derived from biomass under oxygen. The first deoxygenation catalyst comprises a neutral catalyst, nickel, cobalt and molybdenum support. In addition, the first deoxygenation catalyst comprises nickel in an amount calculated as oxide from 0.1% to 1.5% by weight.
