abstract The present invention relates to a method of producing indirubin by condensation of isatin and indoxyl derived from the extraction of indigo leaves (Indigofera suffruticosa Mill.), Which comprises the primary steps of a) thermotransforming the indigo precursor (indican) previously extracted with a solvent for the extraction of biomass from indigo plants, at indicán 8 and its controlled chemical hydrolysis for the generation of indoxyl in the reaction medium, and b) the chemical fixation of the indoxyl and the addition of isatin to the aqueous medium during the extraction to allow its condensation with the indoxyl and finally the production of indirubin.
