titleOfInvention | DEVICE FOR COUPLING A REOMETER TO SIMULTANEOUSLY PERFORM REOLOGICAL MEASUREMENTS AND APPLICATION OF ULTRASOUND. |
abstract | The present invention is about a device comprising piezoelectric transducers that generate ultrasonic waves and that is placed at the base of a rheometer to be able to simultaneously make rheological determinations with ultrasound application. These determinations of shear viscosity, complex viscosity, elastic modulus and viscous modulus, among others, are carried out at the same time that the mechanical shock waves, caused by ultrasound, interact with the sample, the results of the measurements also being a function of the frequency and wavelength of the ultrasound. These measurements "in situ" reveal the behavior of the materials when they are affected by ultrasonic waves in the process itself and are of the utmost importance because the processing conditions of transformation and transport processes can be defined and predicted at that time. Physicochemical properties of materials (solutions, colloids, emulsions, molten polymers, mixtures of molten polymers, distribution and dispersion of particles, cholesterol in human blood, among others). The results of these determinations can be applied in mass transport processes in the oil, food, concrete, processing of plastics, inks, gels, toothpastes and any process where fluids are transported. |
