abstract | A wound treatment device with bioabsorbable oxygen administration that includes a bioabsorbable matrix for administering oxygen. The bioabsorbable matrix includes a network of crosslinked bioabsorbable polymer that swells in water. A plurality of closed, gas permeable elastic cells, defined by the network of crosslinked bioabsorbable polymer. According to the invention, these closed cells can be produced from a reaction between a catalyst and a second reagent. The administrable oxygen is contained inside the elastic closed cells, such that when the device is used to treat a wound, oxygen is administered from the closed cells. A process is described for manufacturing a wound treatment device with bioabsorbable oxygen administration that includes a bioabsorbable matrix for administering oxygen, as well as a method for using a wound treatment device with oxygen administration. |
