Agrobacterium strains are provided that harbor genes that increase transformation in a plasmid with the ability to replicate independently of the Agrobacterium chromosome, the Ti plasmid and binary plant transformation vectors, and uses of these Agrobacterium strains. In addition, Agrobacterium strains that have a deficiency in DNA recombination functions that result in instability or reorganization of plant transformation binary vectors, and that harbor genes that increase transformation into a plasmid with the capacity are also provided of an independent replica of the Agrobacterium chromosome, the Ti plasmid, and binary plant transformation vectors, and uses of these strains. Agrobacterium strains are also included that harbor transformation increase genes integrated into the Agrobacterium chromosome in a locus that does not interfere with, or otherwise compromise the normal growth and transformation capacity of the Agrobacterium cell plant, and the uses of these strains of Agrobacterium. Plants made using these strains of Agrobacterium are also described. |
